NANOTECHNOLOGY FOR OUTSTANDING, SUPERBLY CLEAR VISION

Finishes are barely perceptible for the naked eye and yet are so important for the perfect ophthalmic lens. Each layer of finish is produced using state-of-the-art nanotechnology and improves the characteristics of the ophthalmic lens. In the process, the spectrum ranges from simple anti-reflection to high-tech layer system for special requirements.

CHARACTERISTICS THAT YOU SHOULD LOOK OUT FOR

ANTI-REFLECTION

 

Ophthalmic lenses are given an anti-reflection coating to minimise the reflections on the surface and to increase the light transmission.

Reflections develop through the difference in the refractive index between air and glass and can be disturbing for the wearer of the spectacles. With an ophthalmic lens that has not been given an anti-reflection coating, only around 80-92 % of the light reaches the eye. With a super anti-reflection coating, the light transmission is increased to up to 99 %.

The vision feeling becomes more natural, e.g. colours can be perceived in a more natural way.

HYDROPHOBIC

 

This water-repellent layer reduces the attraction between the ophthalmic lens material and the drop of water. When a drop reaches the surface, this runs off again without leaving any residue.

The ophthalmic lens becomes less prone for contamination which makes cleaning easier. In addition, this finish guarantees improved vision in poor weather as the rain drops pearl off the ophthalmic lens.

OLEOPHOBIC

 

This oil-repellent layer is applied to the inner side of the ophthalmic lens and prevents vision being impaired by transpiration, fingerprints or make-up.

ANTISTATIC

 

The antistatic layer smooths the surface of the ophthalmic lens so that particles of dirt and dust do not stick so firmly. Cleaning becomes easier and the ophthalmic lenses do not have to be cleaned so often.

HARD LAYER

 

To protect against scratches, a hard layer is applied to the ophthalmic lenses. Even minor scratches can disturb vision considerably and stress and tire the eyes.

The hard layer extends the lifetime of the ophthalmic lenses.

SPECIAL CHARACTERISTICS


Special layers meet additional requirements. They can, for instance, reduce light reflexes even further or protect the eyes from UV rays and rays of harmful, blue light.

LIGHT TRANSMISSION

UV PROTECTION>

A finish for UV protection is applied to the inner side of the ophthalmic lens and thus protects the eyes against reflecting, harmful UV rays. The SKY+ UV finish offers this characteristic and thus guarantees dazzle-free and contrast-rich vision, even with the sun behind you.
